And this in comparison to a full-size interactive tactile screen, just to
clarify and understand?
Thanks,
Chuck

My Optacon will NOT become obsolete as long as it can be made to work, and
my fingers can feel the pin patterns, and my mind is in good shape to
understand what I read with it. Granted, I use speech-output tools when
they are needed; but there are a good many cases in which nothing else on
earth will get the information I can get from my Optacon!

Hi Chuck!
I can't imagine my optacon becoming obsolete.

Would a portable, interactive, 2D or 3D, full-size tactile screen make
an optacon-like device obsolete and irrelevant? The question might
seem obvious, but I’m thinking of the better contact between the
optacon’s vibrotactile pins and the reading finger because of the
concaved finger plate, which presumably would be at best a marginal
odity if a region like this were featured on a full-size, flat tactile
screen.
