Morning list,

SARA stands for Scanning and Reading Appliance. it's a stand-alone
device; most of them these days are flat bed scanners, although the
newer models are scanners with a camera above the machine, looking down
on a page of print that is facing up. Flat bed scanners work with the
camera underneath, and the printed matter face down. The idea is to have
the scanner scan and then read you the document, or store it in its
memory and later displayed in braille, or read aloud, or copied to a
thumb drive. You can attach a braille display and read the document in
braille if you use the model with the camera above the page.

You can listen to the SARA reading as you read the document or page with
the optacon.
