I use the DOS box (command prompt or whatever you want to call it in
Windows.) I have gotten used to certain things that aren't available in
regular DOS. I like the linear aspects of it and the automation
possibilities available with batch files and my own programs. I had to
switch to 32-bit programs when I got a 64-bit machine because the 16-bit
interface is not available in the 64-bit environment. I have written
programs for the DOS box and for Windows and figured out some of what is
required to get speech programs to recognize things like labels for edit
boxes. I had to hack my way through that but it got to be a little bit
fun if I was in the mood for a lot of frustration. Smile, I am not
writing to describe my mental problems though so my point is that there
is still a lot of stuff we can do and maybe if any of you can handle a
little more frustration than I can, you might be able to accomplish
amazing things.
Enjoy the day!

Nothing wrong with DOS! I use it to.

That is so good to know. My husband enjoys talking to
Richard. Jim taught electronics in community college, and it
just blows his mind how smart Richard is and that he can do
what he does and not see. He has a lot of respect for him.
I have a friend who contacted Richard to try to sell two
good Optacons in good working order. She has ongoing health
problems and has been unable to use them since she last sent
them to Richard. He told her that he just had loads of
Optacons on hand right now, talked to her about an offer,
and they'll get back together on it tomorrow or the next
day.
Bye for now,
Carolyn

Hello to my friend, Bob, and to all.
Yes, Richard is an impressive technician, engineer, and
all-round good human being.
He has worked on my optacon and I'm so glad as it's the only
one I have--smile.
