Zoran (the former Oren) has to put some spin on their chip
because they are in a tough market. It's thought that ATI (AMD)
has 70 to 80 percent of the non-captive DTV demod market.
The much anticipated "Casper" from Linx (now Micronas) was
a complete bust. Not designed into anything due to performance
issues.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but.
It's the CRC talking here, not Zoran. So when the CRC reports says:
"The overall receiver performance is above average of the other ATSC
receivers tested in the last years at CRC. It is the first receiver to
achieve or exceed all the A/74 requirements . . . ," states the
Executive Summary of the Laboratory Evaluation of a VSB Television
Receiver for Terrestrial Broadcasting, published May 14, 2007 by
Communications Research Centre Canada.
then I conclude that this receiver, just like the Samsung Gemini that
came before it, must have shown some clear dominance compared with what
came before. And I'd like to know what the improvements are. And, as I
said previously, since this Zoran processor does not include a tuner,
maybe they are related to more echo tolerance, or better dynamic echo
tolerance, since that's what demods do.
Now of course, the perennially pessimistic and the aggressively clueless
will continue to dismiss everything, that's a given.
