[opendtv] Re: Will broadcasters use ISAN content_ID numbers?

You really need to read SMPTE 2021/BXF.  Broadcasters are interested in
using this technology -- I'm not saying all -- but the technical
infrastructure needs to be in place to determine the local or registered
ISAN that applies to content, and to assert that ISAN through PSIP.

Also, there is an ATSC candidate standard that brings A/57 into compliance
with the ISO content identification system.

At least two broadcasters have asked me about using ISAN for non-local
programs.  However, it's largely a non-starter for spots, as Ad-ID is the
thing there.  (Transmitted using different means than PSIP.)

If you're looking for somebody to say no, then I'm not your guy.

ATSC document A_57a discusses content identification fields that can be 
placed in the transport stream containing unique ISAN numbers registered 
with some central authority.  Anybody know if broadcasters have any 
intention of using these?  For programs?  For local content or ad's?
