[opendtv] Re: What's next for DVD? Blu-ray and HD-DVD battle for your home theater

Hi,

Bert Manfredi:

I believe that BRD are always kept inside a caddy,
so this should be a non-issue. A caddy may be thought
of as annoying, but if it fits in the same drawer as
a regular DVD or CD, who cares ?

Says who ? I can not disclose about this, but I have
seen an example of extremely accurate alignment.
Unbelievably accurate. You would not believe me anyway.

And that doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling, does it ?

I'm no expert on this, but my gut feeling is that DRM
is _the_ killer specification point in this format war.
The studios will support only the format that best
protects their rights. In a way that is acceptable for
the consumers, of course. If there is such a thing...

Historically... DVD-R versus +R, double sided versus
dual layer, who has been in the winning camp ? ;-)
