Bert,
VHF runs at much lower ERPs than UHF for very good reasons, and you know
them. Building penetration with VHF is much greater than penetration with
UHF. VHF is much less line of sight. Low VHF especially is almost
impossible to STOP. I presume you did read Dewey's reply that he was
"getting an ATSC suntan" with the signal strength?
All I was commenting on, Bert, was Dewey's explanation of being able to
close a Silver Sensor antenna inside of a hotel room's personal property
safe, and still be able to receive reliable DTV in his demo suite. I
pointed out that since he was tuning VHF, he didn't need the UHF Silver
Sensor antenna in the first place. For all the good it was doing, he could
have had a DirecTV dish attached and locked in the safe.
John
P.S., if Dewey's demo was done with DVB-T, it might have failed due to
impulse noise in VHF!
