Okay, so let's say that you do prefer to rent the STB from the cable
company anyway. Fine, that's your choice. If you choose to pay rent each

everyone else?

A simplistic analysis Bert. For example, it would be trivially easy to make the tuner a plug in module that would use the TVs power supply and integrate all the connections. Better yet, with a standard, you could plug in a cable tuner, or a DBS tuner, etc. And when the time comes to upgrade, you could replace the module...

But you raise an interesting point.

You are willing to force EVERYONE to pay for an integrated tuner that won;t be used by most people.

Why not make the tuner an option, like so many other TV set features? You would still be able to buy an integrated TV - as was the case before the FCC mandates kicked in - but I would not be required to pay for a tuner I don't need.

Craig
