Even if by some theoretical turn of math you can show parity at 12 dB
less than analog, how does that account for the digital cliff? A dark
screen is what happens when one forgets about signal margin.

Today, I finally got some CH 6 reception by adding a pro-grade
20 dB gain RF amp to the VHF antenna 25 feet above ground.
Video still breaks up occasionally and the sound is gone 1/2 the time.

The 20 dB amp figure roughly correlates with your comments about ERP levels, Bert.

I also question the bandpass response of the signal displayed on the spectrum analyzer. Could this be caused by their CH 6 analog antenna?
