All my idevices are jailbroken and I have no battery problems. The comparison I would make would be that of a PC forced to run AOL Browser full screen on top of Windows, versus one where the user has figured out how to disable the browser and use the actual OS. It amuses me greatly that the iPad cannot find my bluetooth phone, but when I use iBluever I can not only find, but tether through it. Vendor lock-in to sell ATT 3G, is how I would sum up that one. And the same goes for a lot of other things (Cydia has a safari download manager, file manager, display out app, the list goes on..).
