KFMB-TV and -DT are on one tower and across the street there's KGTV and -DT. Each analog and digital transmitter is at the same elevation, and you have to get down to decimal degrees to draw distinctions between their loocations. Both analog stations are at the same power, and both digital stations are at the same power. The analogs are 8 and 10, the digitals are 25 and (for the moment) 55. t's a routine problem for people to not get one analoog station well, and be able to get the other very well, even at distance where there are no obstructions and where the distance between the towers is negligible. What I have discovered with digital, however, is if I can capture one of the digital signals, I can capture the other. If I cannot receive one digital signal, I cannot receive the other. (Receive meaning a usable transport stream. Your situation in NYC, I suspect, Mark, is getting more and more unique. A receiver suitable for your location might not be affordable for people in the rest of the country. Have you ever put a 3dB (or greater) pad into the antenna leadin cable? That seems to provide good digital reception in marginal areas (like close to the transmitters, which you are. Yet directional receiving antennas have had to be pointed in different directions (or even placved in different locations) for reception of those two. The best results with the latest receivers have been with relatively non-directional loops. The best solution is co-located transmission facilities. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
