Hello all,

That's a bargain, actually. Well, 4000 Euro is. I don't know why

the figures in UK pounds and US dollars always come down to the same.

(It could be because of the way our TVs are imported into the UK.)

Keep in mind that this TV is also fully 3D capable, and good at it.

And that it as a wonderful Ambilight feature that no other brands have.

I'm not so sure that DVB-T2 is an established standard yet.

And, personally, I would want to use a settop box anyway, for its

recording functions. Broadcast standards evolve too quickly, you'll

need to change the settop box every 3-4 years, but not the TV.

With HDMI-CEC we can make an external tuner behave like an internal

one, and you avoid an extra RF cable going to the display.

It's under discussion, but I find it unlikely, as it creates a

problem with legacy receivers. They would not know how to convert

it to letterbox for the 16:9 displays. It's too late for that now.

I have treated this in my Tech Retreat presentation. I'm saying

that 810 lines of effective resolution (between the black bars)

is enough for this display size at a typical viewing distance.

Even a 2.4:1 576p DVD looks fine enough, with decent up-sampling.

Why solve a problem that is not a problem ?

We are *not* selling on the US market. Funai uses our brand name.

And it is probably not even an NTSC-M tuner, it's just that it

can decode NTSC on the CVBS and Y/C inputs. I'll have to refer

you to a brand name that begins with a V for a product in the US.

Merry Christmas to you all too !
