Many of these popular items are now more affordable. Back-to-school sales and promotions kick off the consumer electronics buying season, which runs through the December holidays, and go a long way toward livening up the otherwise-slow summer period. Because many popular electronics products have been around for a few years, their prices are dropping and their quality is improving, making them both more attractive and more affordable for students, analysts said.
