I think you're making a bigger issue of "modulation" than it deserves.
And you're probably missing the bigger picture, in which SFNs don't even
figure.

Yes, 8-VSB can work with vertical or horizontal polarization, or MIMO,
or even SFNs, but that's not the issue. The issue is that if it is FOTA
broadcasters that will offer mobile service, it's highly unlikely that
they will do so over a very expensive network of transmitters.

Instead, if it's going to be walled garden service providers to provide
this mobile BROADCAST service, they may install a more expensive network
of transmitters, and they will require subscription fees to fund the
infrastructure. And, as many articles have told us, the uptake of
by-subscription mobile TV broadcast is so-so. Oh yes, even when it's
DVB-H.

COFDM is a better choice for mobile SFN-based RF service. But if that is
something that FOTA broadcasters can ill afford, the point is moot.

More importantly, if the future is not in broadcast at all, but rather
telco-offered wireless broadband, then SFNs are out the picture anyway.
Wireless broadband will require a cellular structure, which is not SFNs.

You already know that isn't true, because you already know that M/H
mandates use of H.264.
