It's funny how a simple and obvious reply to a specific post can create
such tangential discussions.

This "crap" that is offered OTA here is largely the same "crap," or even
among the best of the "crap," offered OTA elsewhere in the world. Shows
like NCIS, Gray's Anatomy, CSI, etc., are aired everywhere. In
Australia, you don't even have the excuse of a 30+ channel Freeview
system such as you might have in the UK, Germany, or France. You have
the same volume of choice as you have in the US when relying on OTA TV.

Matter of fact, in addition to watching Euro TV in Europe, thanks to the
independent MHz Networks station, I actually get to see some Euro TV
shows here too. In their native language. Interesting, even fun, but by
no means better than what US TV networks produce.

As far as the content goes, your personal opinions about what's offered
OTA here do nothing to explain why Americans need 150+ channels of
"crap," and Australians do not. And as for the DVB-T angle, this exodus
from FTA TV in the US started decades before any DTV transition, so it
is totally independent of ATSC vs DVB-T.

If anything, I'd say exactly the opposite.
