Regarding the illusion of really being in the scene, there is an experience
familiar to persons who project onto a white wall.  If the image is
projected with the bottom edge where the wall meets the floor, many scenes
have an uncanny step-in quality when viewed from about ten feet from the
wall.  This is not related to eye-tracking, insofar as I see.
