You are misinformed Cliff.
You can download QuickTime at:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
You DO NOT need an iPod.
The iPOD has NOTHING to do with playback of audio by the Mac or PC.
On the Mac you have two choices for audio playback (from Apple). You=20
can designate QuickTime to play audio files, or you can designate=20
iTunes to play audio files. You can also designate a third party=20
player (Real or WMedia) to play your audio files.
I am not certain, but I believe that you have the same options on a=20
PC. As Cliff noted, when you download QuickTime for Windows XP you=20
also get iTunes. I do not know if the installer gives you the option=20
to ONLY instlal QuickTime, however, I cannot imagine why you would=20
not what iTunes. You CAN designate whether QuickTime or iTunes will=20
play your audio files.
I do however understand your predicament. Having easy to understand=20
and use options is not something you come to expect from Microsoft.
