It still gets praise for having the most intuitive interface and attractive design. But the point is that the iPod's popularity goes beyond that. Apple successfully positioned it as the premium product, the best, the one to have if you want to look cool. And that "coolness factor" is a huge part of it's success. The white earbuds, instantly recognizable. There are cheaper music players out there with a larger capacity, and yet the iPod outsells all of them combined.
