Probably easier on a HFC loop than a telco=20 > system where everything is coming from the CO. >=20 There are certainly some interesting possibilities for using this sort of technology for "push VOD" and other pre-feed type activities where you want to feed the same bits to many/all controlled PVRs in the net. One of the problems with current HFC topologies is that the upstream traffic has to hit the CMTS before it can be turned around, and the CMTS is typically located at the head end (why does the world continue to reinvent SNA-like networks?). If CMTS functionality gets pushed to the edge, these approaches become much more interesting. P2P approaches could also be interesting in content distribution, i.e. from content provider to head end. gary Gary Hughes Director of Media Engineering Broadbus Technologies, Inc. ghughes@xxxxxxxxxxxx v: 978 264 7919 f: 978 264 9108 -------------------------------------------------------- This email message and any files transmitted with it contain = confidential information intended only for the person(s) to whom this = email message is addressed.
