how or why are you attempting to argue with me. I didn't address any of
your points -- just pointed out an omission -- and you didn't address any of
my points.
That the bits aren't available via the internet is you replying to a Bert
comment from weeks ago. Bert and I are seldom on the same planet, and very
seldom do we agree about anything.
I give up nothing.
Their technical model is "curious." It's from the "age of scarcity" of
bits, as we enter the age of plentitude. They deliver video like web pages
are delivered -- only on request.
Two test markets sounds just about right. What am I alluding to? The
Time-Warner "tests" in Orlando and partial deployment in San Diego that the
guy from Silicon Graphics convinced them to do, only for him to abandon the
idea in mid-stream and start up netscape with Mark Andreeson. Telcos need
to experience the bleeding edge, too.
Then, there was the competing -- at the time -- GTE deployment in a whole
town in Nor Cal. Nothing became of that, as well.
