[opendtv] Re: New DTV SIGNAL STRENGTH PREDICTOR

It is a cool site. I like the fact that they give you the signal strength. It does list some statiuons I can't receive, but ...

Even though I entered an antenna height of 30', they say my strongest station is -70 dBm, and ones I pick up fine are just about always below -80 dBm. One Balt example that is reliable supposedly comes in at -120 dBm. My Annapolis PBS station is -105 dBm.

Man, these Accurians rock!

BTW, Antennaweb used to be very accurate for me, showing all the Balt stations I receive, but then they suddenly "got religion" and turned overly conservative. On the other hand, this site shows more stations than I can receive, but then they give signal strengths that are really low, and co-channel interference warnings for a good many of them.

I think that my Hata model, as tweaked by the ITU-R, is instead my best bet. If it shows received signal strength of around -73 dBm, I'm good. That sounds reasonable. Sometimes, more complex does not translate to more realistic.
