This site:

http://www.ntia.doc.gov/dtvcoupon/index.html

has a little summary table of actions people should take for the
upcoming DTV transition.

Your TV tuner is: You get your programming from: You will need:
---------------- ----------------------------- -------------
Analog Over-the-air D/A conv. box
Analog Cable or satellite Contact Provider
Digital Over-the-air Nothing
Digital Cable or satellite Contact Provider

Which makes it seem that Feb 18 2009 is a bigger deal than it really is.
My table would instead have been:

Your TV tuner is: You get your programming from: You will need:
---------------- ----------------------------- -------------
Analog Over-the-air D/A conv. box
Analog Cable or satellite Nothing
Digital Over-the-air Nothing
Digital Cable or satellite Really nothing

In fact, *if* the digital transition affects cable service in any way at
all, it will surely be the cable companies that will inform their
customers first, without having to be asked.
