Truer words were never spoken Bert.

The problem is that the protected IP and the only real ROI are for the members of the ATSC patent pool. And the need to continue to protect this legacy have made it necessary to take a step BACKWARDS to provide a robust mobile service. But there could be a silver lining in this cloud...

The effort to develop these mobile enhancements could make plain vanilla 8-VSB more viable for "traditional" portable receivers. I will expound on this in a related message.
