Wow. Very impressive. It would be great to know how some of those early
examples of TV transmissions, e.g. stereo TV (before the 1980s), or
electric lighting (before 1879), or countless other examples you give
where opera pre-dated all other media, actually worked.

My experience with stereo TV before 1980 consisted of listening to a
stereo FM simulcast along with the TV image. But even that depended on
stereo FM, 1961. I think before stereo FM, there was a scheme where one
AM and one FM broadcast was used, for left and right channels. Maybe
that's how it was done?

Funny about opera fans. The ones I know are just as you describe.
