Low-Cost HD Post Arrives
What does it take-and cost-to put together a finishing system based
on new HD editing software?

Lets get right down to it: There have been a number of exciting
recent announcements regarding HD editing systems, but Apple's entry
in this market is nothing short of spectacular. The company has
created a stellar integrated hardware system, operating system, and
professional video media application environment. A Power Mac G5 with
dual 2 GHz (or faster) processors, 2 to 4 GB of RAM, one of several
storage alternatives, and a 23-or 30-inch Cinema HD display is all
the computer hardware needed to support most existing DV formats,
including DV based HD formats such as Panasonic's DVCPRO HD and HDV.
Apple's Production Suite (Final Cut Pro HD, Motion, and DVD Studio
Pro) provides nonlinear editing (NLE), real-time motion graphics, and
DVD authoring with extensive and often elegant professional
capabilities.
