The local Comcast people tell us that they want to provide all programming
in digital because their customers are complaining about the poor quality
recordings made by their PVR boxes from analog sources. If they provide
everything in digital at the head end, they don't have to rely on the cheap
MPEG encoder chip inside the STB to compress the noisy analog signal in the
home.
