What antenna? I can hardly see it. It's all inside, the length of the
phone itself. Do you really think this is going to give you the 25+ dB
C/N you need, at VHF or UHF TV frequencies, to decode DTT on your cell
phone? (Especially the Euro-style DTT, with 25 KW transmitters?)

I don't.

Now, for mobile but not hand-held, the problem becomes easier. First,
you can use a reasonable antenna. Second, power isn't as much of an
issue. Also, the screens are bigger, so more compatible with what is
being transmitted omn normal DTT channels.

For these applications, I would expect to see the *normal* DTT channels
used. Which means, not specially handicapped DVB-T in QPSK or other
such, but regular 3.3 b/s/Hz channels that carry regular multiplexes
and/or HDTV programs. And for that, I have no big doubt that 8-VSB can
work, and work well. The USB ATSC receivers now, those based on
two-year-old 5th gen electronics, work well, at least in portable (if
not mobile) applications.

That's what I find interesting. Not creating a special channel for
mobile devices, which of course can be done. If you create a new
standard, and DVB-H qualifies as a new standard, then what's so unusual
about that? We communicated with Voyager at the edges of the solar
system with a specially designed channel.
