The carrot and doom and gloom reasoning.

Most of the content providers favor whatever can make them the most
money. And since content protection system providers are interested in
the same thing, content providers really favor whatever is in the
content protection system provider's best interests.

Managed copy is a poor attempt to make consumers believe they are going
to get fair use capabilities. It truth is nothing more than an attempt
to not repeat the DIVX disaster, while giving vendor-lock-in to closed
source operating systems and further limiting what they can do with
material they have purchased.

Is managed copy for HD-DVD supported on any operating system platforms
besides Microsoft's? Linux, perhaps?

Last, add:

3. 99% of consumers don't really care to pirate what they already *own*,
and no matter what system you put in place, the 1% that pirates the
content *will still find a way to do it*.

Cheers
