[opendtv] How does Japan manage 50/60Hz mismatch ?

I've recently learned that Japan has two independant power grids, one
operating at 60 Hz in the south, and the other at 50 Hz in the north.
Since NTSC-J is almost equivalent to the US NTSC-M, which means it is
operating at 60 Hz over the entire country, and since it has been said
on this reflector that this kind of frequency mismatch (in the north)
may lead to an annoying beat, i was wondering how they have solved this
contradiction. Any ideas?
