[opendtv] Re: Hollywood may demand DRM for larger harddrives

Jeroen;

I agree almost completely with you. This is almost a professional
environment; and you have responded to salient observations from Tom.
However, these types of comments or observations appear to be the exception
in his output.

When I'm dealing with people that are professional in manner, I'm always
professional and I give people the benefit of the doubt. When there is no
doubt that someone cannot behave profesionally, despite polite suggestions,
then I have another bag of tricks.

If you ever have cause to believe that I have behaved outside these bounds,
please call me on it. I will be considerate and civil in response.

It's been my experience, when I attend industry events and functions, that I
encounter one or more OpenDTV members. More often than not, these folks say
things like "I'm glad you're there to deal with the a**holes" or "I wish I
had the time like you to deal with ____ (different names are offered)."

I admit to being a bit plucky, if not hot-blooded. (I have latin blood.)
However, I'm equivocal about what I do here, and it's mostly in response,
not to draw first blood, and I try to give the other party the last word.

I periodically think about leaving. Right now, I'm pondering leaving just
after next year's Tech Retreat or sooner.
