Hello,
Bert Manfredi:

But our TV processing platform, e.g. PNX8550, will down-convert 480p
or 720p or 1080i to 480i for you. Why pay for the same hardware twice ?
After protecting the 480i with Macrovision we will let you record that.
Or we won't ?
I have just bought a DVDR3300H hard-disk & DVD recorder for my parents,
and discovered that it would not copy an original Disney VHS that I own.
And this was after connecting it through a Macrovision decoder...
Apparently this does not remove the "broadcast flag", which is known
here as CGMS-A (CGMS/A) - "Copy Generation Management System for Analog
Video". So even if the signal is perfectly usable for a VHS recorder,
they still won't let you record it. Bummer.
Greetings,
-- Jeroen
