That does not happen around here ... all such occurrences have long
stopped. I queried a salesman at CC (who sold me my HDTV) and he 
said that if they have an HDTV connected to a non-HD source,
and other HDTVs are showing the same source in HD, it will only
be a few hours before a potential customer will start loudly 
complaining. If there are no other HDTVS showing the same source,
only the "usual suspects" (i.e. me and a few others) will tell,
so long as it is actual HD material connected to the set through
a non-HD method (i.e. S-Video). If it is non-HD material,
everybody will notice.

However, I suspect our town is a big leader in the uptake
rate of HD.
