[opendtv] Google and Radio

As we know, Google is getting out of radio. This includes a full radio
station automation system they have been working on. We almost bought it
for our new facility and Google was really selling us on it. Did anyone
attend their demonstrations at NAB?
However, a competitor stepped up with a quote to beat it, and, based on
some additional features, we went with the alternative, a more established
player in the Radio automation world. Now I hear that Google is trying to
sell the automation system that they bought and developed. I'm sure
they're going to lose their shirt on this one.
I wonder if the reason that they bought the automation system was that
they planned to sell radio advertising and wanted an automation system
that would easily integrate with their ad insertion. Now that they are
not selling radio ads, they are not interested in radio automation. This
is my supposition as an outsider. Perhaps someone has more inside
knowledge?
But I really hate is when big money buys up small software companies with
good ideas, tries to develop and sell them, but then when it doesn't fit
their fleeting interests, they abandon it. This has happened to me on
many software packages that I have taken the time to learn and become
comfortable with. I'm sure it will happen again. Is there anyone here
that also has a radio station and is using Google?
At least I avoided the pitfall with Google...this time!
Dan
