Well,
I have been watching the olympics on my 26" LG LCD 720p set, and also
on a friends 42" Visio 1080p LCD. Mine through Dish Network and an off
air antenna for NBC local HD VIP 722 DVR. and Time Warner Digital/HD
cable through their standard Scientific Atlanta/Cisco DVR.
I have noticed something, whenever there is fast motion like in a view
or in a dissolve or add-in of the NBC logo, the pixillation becomes
ridiculous, I can see it at 6 ft back from my 26" set. At first I thought
it might be the compression that Dish added to the signal, but the 98%
local NBC signal is no better. I checked some tapes of the 04 Olympics
that I made using Hi8 and this DID NOT happen with NTSC. Well so much
for progress.....
Matt
