Tim is an engineer for the Reno PBS, and his tagline of "Compression Is Evil" is infamous on the internal PBS Connect boards. Nothing you can possibly say to him will make him change his mind on that point.
Funny, though, when I point out to him that interlace is compression too, he's all for it because 1080i is "Real HD" while 720p is not.

Yes compression can be evil, but this is placing the blame on the wrong issue. You can send an analog signal down 1000 feet of coax and still see the video at the other end. But if you want that video to be pristine you need an equalizing DA to compensate for the cable.
