A growing volume of content is flowing to consumers in methods other than the traditional television and cinema channels. This new Committee addresses the need for interoperable content mastering and packaging standards that can enhance the rapid adoption of these new business models. The scope of this new TC 23B includes the application of mastered essence to electronic Broadband distribution; including compression, encryption, wrapping, marking, packaging, tracking/control, presentation, reproduction, and related topics. For the purpose of their initial work, such distribution is generally considered to be interactively requested and may include both download and streaming distribution models. Such distribution may occur over wired or wireless transports and may include large, medium, and small packages dependent upon receiving device. TC 23B's inaugural meeting will be hosted in conjunction with the SMPTE 2008. While all are welcome to this initial meeting, membership of the SMPTE Standards Community will be required for ongoing participation. Please <http://www.smpte.org/standards/meeting_schedule/23b_inaugural/participation > Read the Instructions and Conditions for Participation. Highland Avenue Hollywood CA 90028 Help requested for EG41 (MXF) revision SMPTE Technology Committee 31FS (File Structures) will be re-opening SMPTE EG41 as part of the 5-year document review process. SMPTE EG41 provides guidelines for the implementation and application of MXF. As an engineering guideline, it provides MXF implementers with helpful information that can aid interoperability between different MXF implementations. It does not provide any formal definitions of the MXF specification which remain with the family of MXF standards. This announcement is intended for those MXF implementers who would not normally take part in SMPTE standardization meetings to be able to provide information which they feel is missing from the current version of EG41 or is erroneous in some way. Implementers are encouraged to contact SMPTE though the address below with their suggestions for new or corrected information based on their understanding of the MXF standards and SMPTE EG41. Please note that this announcement does not include the use or application of MXF descriptive metadata which will be the subject of a separate review process. Please contact: the revision team <mailto:eg41@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> giving the following information: i) your full contact details, including telephone number, ii) the topic heading of your comment, iii) a concise and complete description of your comment and iv) your proposed resolution for your comment.
