There 491 stations that showed an interest in shutting off analog on
schedule, i.e. 17 Feb 2009. The FCC granted all but 123 their request,
or rather, intent. For these remaining 123, the FCC added switchoff
requirements, to try to make them retain analog until 12 June.

This whole thing is laughable.

A number of markets have already made the transition. Yet the FCC now wants at least one station in the remaining markets to keep their analog signal on. Makes one wonder if they are going to make a station in markets that have completed the transition put an analog transmitter back on the air.

It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
