[opendtv] Re: Digital radios outstrip analogue

Can someone please remind me again why we need separate digital TV
and radio services.
It's called digital broadcasting, and smart receivers will be able to
tune to any source of bits.
Why segregate these services and the devices that use them?
I understand potential differences in robustness requirements. But
well designed digital broadcast systems already have the ability to
optimize portions of the network for services with different
application requirements.
Except for here in the U.S. of course...
