I have long suspected that if the whole truth is told, things are much
more similar than different, concerning TV habits in the US, Canada,
Europe, and down under. This article sounds like it could have been
written here.

One thing I have wondered out loud in the past was whether the situation
in Australia wasn't simply caused by the cable companies being less
aggressive than they are here. Rather than by people preferring a good
barbie to the point that they don't need anything more than 6-8
channels.

From what Barry says, in New Zealand anyway, cable isn't offering enough
that a huge majority of people will refuse to give up. That makes a lot
of sense.
