[opendtv] Re: Comcast doing it's very own digital to analog converters

we're seeing similar claims in this area. Cox cable announces their HD viewing
options and they number much more than the 100 HD channels of DirecTV. What
they mean is to add up all the various HD content available on VOD, most of it
-- I'm guessing -- promos.

If they were to do apples-to-apples comparisons, the HD viewing options on
DirecTV would include each VOD movie that is available in HD, and each linear
program available on DirecTV in HD.

It's nice to see AT&T (U-verse) attack the cable companies by name. Some
flights just talk about the cable company (generic), then the next flight has
the same spot with references to Cox. Some of them ridicule the cable company.

However, I have to say that I've only seen one home wired for fiber (required
for U-verse) and that was apparently an AT&T employee, since it happened before
the commercial launch of U-verse.

And, the cable mission (largely retention) is different than the U-verse
mission (acquisition.)

There has been another change worth noting. Cable, when mentioning prices,
highlights in most spots "Not a teaser rate." But, every once in a while, they
air a spot with a teaser rate.
