Aha! Bert caught in somewhere between internally inconsistent arguments or lies (agai). First he wrote (in part) "A PVR, by defintiion, is "personal," meaning on the premises of the subscriber. What they are describing here is VOD, not PVR. " Then, when challenged, he responded with: "Okay, I agree that the article uses "DVR" rather than "PVR," in the title. But to me, those terms have always been interchangeable. Check out what Wikipedia says (or just go to any list of consumer products): The article was about DVRs; so -- following his normal style -- he just acted as if it were about PVRs, and then went "royal" to say the definition of a PVR was such and such. When challenged, he went on to say that the terms were interchangeable. Uh, if so, why did you draw the distinction by changing the terms? If he had wanted to -- shock -- be consistent, he would have been saying PVR or DVR,not changing the terms of discussion. And then, to prove that we is all over the place, he went to wikipedia. I guess he doesn't know the difference between denotation and connotation. At best, Wikipedia is about connotation. Then, to gloss over his acts of commission and omission to talk about large storage requirements at the edges. Funny term: there is no network edge that I'm familiar with between the cable headend (a network edge or transition point) and the customer's premises (another network edge.) par for the course.
