[opendtv] CMOS sensors and rolling shutters

There's a lot of talk lately about the new Sony HD cameras being released with CMOS imagers and rolling shutters, and some specific artifacts that are a result of the rolling shutter. There's a nice write-up about it here -

What I'm wondering, for the seasoned engineers in the crowd, is if these kinds of artifacts were also present with tube cameras.
