Perhaps you might need an analog tuner after next February, but I'd

Why would there be any difference in sensitivity?

Virtually all new tuners are solid state - they use the same front end whether the channel is carrying analog NTSC, analog 8-VSB or analog QAM. Some of the CECBs use chips with the NTSC portion disabled; others use chips built specifically for the NTIA specs without the NTSC tuning ability.

A few of the CECBs have the smart antenna interface. There used to be
some comparison spreadsheets posted, but I can't find them now. The RCA
unit has the interface, and there are others. Unfortunately, there
aren't many smart antennas available. More chicken-and-egg, I guess.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps someone will decide that there is a market opportunity for a smart antenna. The chances might improve when the MPH service begins.
