How come you didn't mention the Patronas Tower in Indonesia?
The Petronas Towers are in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The only reason I
know this is because I worked in the building across the street from
them while they were being built. Big sticks indeed :)

Maybe he was thinking of the Petronius oil platform at 2001 ft. But that
is in the Gulf of Mexico and only has a HAMSL of maybe 250 ft. Including
antenna the Sears Tower is still the tallest building if you measure
that way.
Tallest building not counting the antenna would be the Taipei tower but
that is in Taipei Taiwan. Nothing in Indonesia yet, the Jakarta tower,
if ever finished will be 588 m, 1929 ft, or taller than the CN tower.
The tallest man made thing is still a TV tower in N. Dakota.
