I think Bob meant that UHF OTA stations weren't as successful=20
until they got cable carriage...

Bob, I'm not sure how you can support this.

Cable didn't use much UHF at all until recently, did it?
Weren't cable channels mostly within 400 or 450 MHz? (I
suppose you can call anything above 300 MHz UHF, but OTA
UHF starts at 470 MHz. So it's not the same thing.)

And OTA UHF has been at least as good as VHF, and better
than low-band VHF, for urban and suburban settings, for
decades. Not sure why you think it was a failure.

As an OTA user, I wouldn't do without UHF.

Agreed. Perhaps the difference is, IMO past improvements made
this eventual success fairly predictable. And as of 2003, it
was essentially certainty.
