My Motorola box frequently misses channels on a scan but does not
hang. If you manually tune to the missing physical channels it
picks them up and puts them in the program guide correctly.

This box also has a totally messed up screen display of
signal characteristics: when you go to a new channel, this
display appears on the screen, but all the info except
signal strength, when it appears after the new channel is
on-screen, is of the OLD channel! To see the new channel info
you have to wait for the wrong info to go away and then hit Display.
