If Toshiba shows the SED/FED display, that's worth a look. The InFocus
folded-optical-path projectors aren't new, but they're fun.

TTFN,
Mark

I haven't seen that Infocus projector you talk about, so thanks for the tip.
What makes it such an interesting product, how does it enhance the display,
what are its strengths/weaknesses?

There are two Toshiba's listed one will be showing led based modular
display's. And the other Toshiba doesn't have a releasae on the IS site, nor
opted for the paid press-kit service provided by virtual press office, so I
have no idea what they will be showing. The link provided indicates it is
the projector division, www.toshiba.de/projektoren, wich doesn't even list
this tradeshow, just Cebit and IFA...

Panasonic will be showing single and triple dlp chip projectors.

And there are some multimedia server companies, besides the projector and
screen manufacturers.

Mark, take care, looking at the tech retreat schedule you seem to have one
hell of a bussy week ahead of you,

Donald

Exciting New TECHNORAINBOWT Products at ISE - Toshiba Technorainbow
20th January 2005 - Toshiba promises to unveil new and exciting
additions to its product line-up at the forthcoming Integrated Systems
Europe (ISE) exhibition in Amsterdam (26-28 January 2005).

The TR2006R 6mm SMD is an indoor modular LED screen that can be built
on a convex, concave or combination curve along the horizontal axis for
extreme flexibility and maximum impact indoors. The screen can be built
flat, without a curve if no curve is required. The compact, lightweight
384mm modules are among the smallest in their class, and allow for easy
assembly and the ability to use the screens more artistically. The TR2006R
LED display operates at a wide range of input voltages (100-240 volts) for
cabling and logistical cost-savings, as well as versatile use virtually
anywhere. The TR2006R screens also offer an industry low 1.5 total system
frame delay (with new TRLC1050 digital processor), making it ideal for live
show applications.

      The TRV2013GC 25mm low-cost, high-resolution Technovirtual LED is
ideal for outdoor applications where larger screens are required, such as
mobile trucks and outdoor concerts or fixed installations like stadiums and
billboards. The TRV2013GC offers a 12.5mm visual resolution via a new,
proprietary all digital, virtual processing technology at a price point that
is about half the cost of similar discrete-led technology. Jon Perkins of
Toshiba's European operation hinted that Toshiba is close to finalising a
modular version of this product and discussions have already taken place
with key rental customers.

ISE takes place from 26 to 28 January at the Amsterdam RAI centre.
Toshiba will be at Stand 1123 or contact Jon Perkins for more information at

Pin-sharp pictures for big screens and large audiences - Panasonic
Marketing Europe GmbH
      Press release

Pin-sharp pictures for big screens and large audiences

Photokina 2004: Panasonic unveils 1-chip and 3-chip DLPT* projectors
for electronic cinema fascination

Cinema enthusiasts will be delighted: with the system projectors
PT-D5500, PT-DW7000 and PT-D7700, even the smallest details appear
razor-sharp and in XXL format on large screens. At Photokina 2004
(28.09.04.-03.10.04, Cologne), Panasonic unveils its three newcomers for
professional applications in mid-to-large size venues.

      All-rounder PT-D5500 takes centre-stage
Weak colours and discernible lines belong to the past: with the
PT-D5500, the charts of a company presentation or the newest blockbusters
are displayed in brilliant colours and 16:9 format on all screens - whether
in conference rooms, hotel lounges or in universities. The PT-D5500 is the
first 1-chip DLP projector in its category. Equipped with a brightness of
5,000 ANSI lumen and a contrast ratio of 1,600:1, it offers natural-looking,
crisp images in 1,024 x768 XGA resolution. After use, the projector can be
immediately disconnected from the power supply thanks to its built-in
lamp-protecting circuit.

The all-rounder for mid-to-large size venues is easy to install with
one-touch auto-setup and guarantees 24-hour-a-day reliability. The
integrated digital keystone correction adjusts imbalances, if the projector
is not placed exactly at the right angle to the screen. With two PC (RGB)
connections and three video inputs, the PT-D5500 can be flexibly connected
to several sources.

The projector is available in two versions: the standard version
PT-D5500 comes with a 1,8-2,5 1-lens, the PT-D5500EL version is delivered
without a lens. For both models Panasonic offers four different lens systems
optimized for different projecting distances.

3-chip DLP flagships open new perspectives
Panasonic's new 3-chip DLP flagships are a real alternative to clumsy
film reels. With the PT-DW7000, the company launches its first 3-chip DLP
projector with 16:9-chip. Offering 6,000 ANSI lumen brightness and a
1,366x768 WXGA resolution, the projector displays visually-stunning and
pin-sharp pictures, fulfilling even the high requirements of electronic
cinemas.

      The high-performance PT-D7700 is a premium choice for cinema-feeling
in large rooms. It combines the newest optical technologies with maximum
ease-of-use and reliability. Therefore, the PT-D7700 is not only the ideal
candidate for cinemas, at events, and in public institutions, but is also
the perfect unit for demanding applications in mission-critical environments
such as heavy 24/7 use in command and control centres. With 7,000 ANSI
lumen, a super-high contrast of 4,000:1, and a 1,400x1,050 SXGA+ resolution,
unequalled brightness and exceptional image quality are guaranteed.

Both 3-chip models feature edge blending and multi-screen colour
matching: up to 100 projectors (10 x 10 arrangement) can display an image of
almost any size over a wide span without any discernible lines or
horizontal/vertical blurred borders between overlapping projected images.
The required split technology is already integrated in the projector.

All three projector models are delivered with a completely-sealed,
dust-proof and fluid-cooled optical system. The BriteOpticT dual-lamp system
ensures reliability even if one of the lamps fails during presentations. In
addition, all units are network-compatible, enabling network administrators
to centrally control and monitor these projectors via LAN-connection over a
web browser. Thereby, downtimes can be minimized and support costs driven
down. Used in network mode, the projectors automatically log-on via email
and are capable of communicating with the control centre to, for instance,
inform on the need of lamp replacement.

      Prices and availabilities
The PT-D5500E and PT-D5500EL are available at a prize of 6,895 Euros
and 6,637 Euros, respectively. The PT-DW7000 costs 21,000 Euros, the
PT-D7700 29,950 Euros. The prizes are exclusive of VAT. All models
will be available in October 2004.

Panasonic offers a complete series of projectors for fixed
installations. They are the perfect choice for cinema and conference rooms
as well as highly frequented places such as airports, train stations,
educational institutions, administrations, and POIs where public advertising
is displayed on large surfaces.
