Absolutely!

I still see very nasty blocking artifacts in sporting events from CBS and NBC. It's less of a problem for drama/sitcoms, but even these still can have problems.

It would not be difficult for live sports to be originated in 720P, as most of the trucks in use today are dual standard. They could still convert to 1080i at the network hubs.
