No, it is not. John Shutt was the one who first pointed this out. 16 X 10 *was* a common PC monitor standard. They have since given up that silly game, and they have done what made sense even back in 1991.

That's just from the first two pages of listings for LCD computer monitors at Best Buy

The iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad do not use 16:9 displays:

iPhone iPod Touch - 960 x 540 (and lower at same 1.5:1 aspect ratio).

iPad - 1024 x 768 (1.33:1)

But, the latest generation of iMacs and Apple monitors are 16:9.
