[opendtv] Re: A detail in the history of video standards

hey, that's interesting. The people I talk to who actually visit Korea to
sell equipment to broadcasters tell me that Korea has three channels, and
that what is shown in Seoul is exactly what is seen in the rest of the
country. This is important points to these folks: they sell broadcast
encoders and multiplexers, and can tell real customers from non-customers.

There are three PSIP generators in Korea. And, each was written by the
broadcaster that uses that particular unit.

Even the "evidence" you provide is suspect. I count at best 5 TV stations
in Seoul. Note that four of the "tv stations" you cite have no channel
number. How do you think these other "TV stations" reach the public? Do
you think that stations without channel numbers might be Internet only tv
stations? (Korea has an extremely high rate of high-speed (8 mb/sec or
faster) internet connections.)

You could have spent just a bit longer on this, Mark. I spent only about 30
seconds to refute your web site.

My point is only slighly wounded, Mark. I am talking about ACTUAL Tijuana
TV stations that I can and do WATCH. Over the AIR. My definition of
terrestrial television requires "stations" to operate via "transmitters":
point to multipoint, wirelessly. There are other definitions, but they
aren't recognized by broadcasters.
